Description:
Works in ambulance and acute care facilities, taking the lead in dealing with accidents and emergencies. Observes the patient and initiates any specialist medical treatment needed. Performs some invasive procedures and gives some medications under the supervision of a physician and/or as allowed by state regulations.
Responsibilities include: • Performs emergency medical skills, within the scope of their practice. • Administers care in conjunction with facility or client protocols. • Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology to obtain a pertinent history. • Intonates and conducts airway management for patients as needed. • Reinforces the implementation of patient and family care with the effective use of time, resources, equipment and supplies.
Qualifications include: • High School Diploma or Equivalent. • Successful completion of the National Registry Exam as required by regulations or contract specifications preferred. • One (1) year of experience as a Paramedic preferred. • Current certificate as a Paramedic. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Knowledge of the Universal Precautions • Current BLS card. • Current ACLS/PALS card.
