Description:
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the licensed psychiatric technician or psychiatric technician assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. The LPT demonstrates ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. The LPT demonstrates critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care. Consistently performs according to established standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage patient care effectively and safely.
• Promotes and participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal relations with patients/family/significant others, hospital healthcare co-workers, physicians, and all facility personnel.
• Represents Maxim Healthcare Services in the hospital setting in a positive image.
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
• Current Licensed Psychiatric Technician License for the state in which the technician practices (LPT only).
• Full command, verbal and written, of the English language.
• Current PPD or Chest X-Ray per Maxim Policy
• Current BLS card per Maxim Policy
• Current Health Certificate (if applicable)
• Prefer one year of psychiatric acute care hospital experience within the last three years.
• Successful completion of the Maxim Healthcare screening for the clinical specialty area(s) in which the LPT practices with a score of 80% or greater.
• Licensed Psychiatric Technician will administer medications in accordance with scope of practice. A Psychiatric Technician who does not possess a license may not administer medications).
• Must meet all of Maxim’s pre-employment screening requirements
Physical/Work Environment Requirements:
• May work at off-site facility/ client site
• May be exposed to blood-borne pathogens, chemotherapeutic and toxic chemicals
