Maxim Government Services is looking for a dedicated Health Professional to assume the responsibilities of Correctional Nurse Practitioner. Services are requested in Burlington, VT, Newport, VT and St. Albans, VT. We can hire one Nurse Practitioner (NP) for all hours or two part time NP’s for each location. 20 hours are requested in each location and hours are flexible. Mileage or housing can be provided.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid license as Nurse Practitioner, completion of Nurse Practitioner program
2. At least one year of experience
3. Able to work with female and male population


1. Statement of Work
a. Contractor agrees to provide a mutually acceptable psychiatric nurse practitioner, licensed in the State of Vermont, to provide psychiatric coverage to general adult, geriatric or forensic patients.
b. Nurse Practitioner must be credentialed and privileged to practice before beginning work.
c. Psychiatrist duties as Unit Nurse Practitioner:
(1) The Unit Nurse Practitioner is the primary medical/clinical leader of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, and provides psychiatric and medical care to patients under his/her care. The Unit Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the admission and discharge of patients to the Unit, psychiatric and physical examinations, formulation of diagnoses and treatment plans, and performing clinical treatments directly as well as monitoring clinical treatments done by others.
(2) Specific duties include performing psychiatric, physical, and neurological examinations, writing orders for patient care, conducting meetings of the unit Treatment Team to prepare individual patient Treatment Plans and give clinical leadership to services that implement them. The Unit Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with the Supervising RN to provide leadership to the Treatment Team in formulating and implementing plans for operation of the unit therapeutic environment, and will provide direct service to patients such as group and individual counseling. The Unit Nurse Practitioner will complete the medical record in accordance with requirements of Medical Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies, prepare correspondence communicating findings from patient evaluations to administration, judges, PSRB, and attorneys. The Unit Nurse Practitioner will serve on medical staff committees, participate in peer review, quality assurance, and utilization review activities, assist with training and continuing education to staff, participate in continuing education, maintain qualifications to perform techniques of basic life support (CPR), and attend medical staff meetings.
